Full
Mouth Reconstruction, or Rehabilitation, is the process of restoring
every tooth in the mouth. Usually a combination of full-coverage
porcelain crowns and bridges or veneers can accomplish this process.
Frequently integrating implants into the procedure is necessary,
and sometimes we use removable prosthetics, such as an over-denture
or partial denture to accomplish our mutually desired goals..
We
normally try to complete our full reconstruction cases in as little
as one to two months. Should implant placement be part of the overall
plan, treatment can extend over the period of a year or more, depending
on the complexity of the case. During treatment time our clients
wear customized provisional crowns or temporary removable prosthetics
so that they are never without teeth.
Before
a procedure this extensive is initiated, a thorough diagnosis and
treatment plan is completed for our patients to know what to expect
from the standpoint of the number of visits, chairtime, and expense,
so that there are no surprises.
The
first case below represents a patient who wore her anterior teeth
down to an unacceptable height for efficient chewing and esthetic
appearance. Reconstruction included placing crowns on her back teeth
and veneering the upper and lower front teeth.
